Empowering Farmers through Cash Crop Development in Nigeria

Goldagric's partnership with the Nigeria Commodity Exchange has demonstrated the potential of well-planned and executed interventions to transform the agricultural sector in Nigeria.

• Impact and Outcomes

  Increased production: The project led to a significant increase in the production of cash crops in the target states, with participating farmers recording higher yields and improved crop quality.
  Enhanced farmer knowledge: Training programs and technical support helped farmers acquire new skills and knowledge, leading to better crop management and decision-making.
  Design of survey instrument, recruitment and training of enumerators, field testing of survey instrument, actual field survey, data collation and analysis, production of data base and reports with recommendations on problem/constraints analysis, possible intervention measures.

• Key Project Activities

  Farmer capacity building: Goldagric and NCX conducted training programs and workshops for farmers in the five project states, covering various aspects of cash crop production, post-harvest handling, and marketing.
  Market linkage development: Goldagric and NCX worked closely with local market actors and aggregators to establish strong market linkages for the project beneficiaries.
  Goldagric developed guidance for commodity trade on key cash crops to fast-track the operations of the exchange.
